What's in My Closet: Summer Edition
Summer is not the season I would call my favorite fashion-wise, I find it to be more limiting as to what one can wear to accommodate the weather, and unlike autumn and winter, layering isn’t an option. I should probably also say that summer is also not my favorite season, which is a likely factor in my not loving the fashion and style behind it.
All this being said, I really enjoy gathering inspiration for what to wear (especially in summertime) from outside sources, my main ones being Pinterest, Instagram, etc. Finding a muse and tailoring their looks to a way you enjoy is purely what style is all about to me. To name a few, Matilda Djerf, Olivia Jade, and Sofia Richie Grainge are my go-to’s, alongside Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and The City.
During the summer months, I gravitate towards lighter and more airy colors and fabrics, and I like to experiment with different patterns and jewelry pieces. Examples of these include linen pants, airy blouses, shirts with cut-outs, pieces with lace detailing, long dresses, chunky necklaces, pearl jewelry, and kitten heels and sandals. I also like picking out swimwear and trying new brands. I particularly love the trend of beads and shells on swimsuits and even different clothing pieces.
I put together a short list (with links) of a few summer favorites of mine that I have and would recommend to anyone looking for style inspiration!
What’s in my closet?
my favorite linen button-down shirt - I have four different colors + perfect for dressing up or down
my vision of the perfect summer brand - so many cute, light pieces that are ideal for warmer months
my favorite brand for summer dresses - mini, midi, or maxi! fp has the perfect airy fabric
my favorite hair brand!! the perfect accessories to keep your hair up all summer
I mentioned jewelry earlier and I want to also include how summer is the perfect season for accessorizing. I find that most summer looks rely on the basics and simplicity of a top and bottom, but it is the choice to accessorize that makes an outfit stand out. Whether that be different jewelry pieces, hair clips, a certain pair of shoes, or a bag, accessories complete a look. I tend to rely on jewelry, such as certain necklaces and other pieces that I save for summertime because of how they simply match the overall vibes of the season.
The most important part of any season is to dress in a way that you feel comfortable and put together in, which is different for every person. While I don’t love summer fashion, I have found personalized ways to wear something that I like and matches the weather. It can be a work in progress, but it’s worth the time finding and wearing items you love.
